How
do you feel when you are happy? Are you
in a position to quantify the same? Does happiness give any extra motivation? Some people say that they are always happy and
if you closely observe their mien, behavior and attitude, you will find the
truth. Some others are mostly in the slough of gloomy situations, as if
happiness has never kissed their fate. Also, there are people who are
spiritually happy, but live in poverty. The last two categories are minuscule
in numbers. It is not that easy to judge happiness as it is only a feeling how
much you are contended with your life, its workings and your relationship with
others. To understand this feeling, you must introspect what makes you happy. When
you earn any materialistic profit or acquire some name and fame for your extraordinary
achievement or simply visiting a place full of scenic beauty or tranquility say
seashore, mountain or pilgrimage, you become elated. Now, it is up to you to
decide how you can keep your this happiness prolonged for a long time. Most of
us are not able to confine in this mode of happiness perpetually because the
constraints of life and thorny path laid down in front of us take us back to
the square. To understand this syndrome at the macro level, we have to be more
pragmatic. The satisfaction and contentment are the cornerstones of happiness. In
today’s grandeur and pompous environment for living, we have learned how to
increase consumption, how to become spendthrift and why not to lead a
glittering life. Ultimately, we get indulged in those sort of activities more
than it is really needed. The proliferation of assets with abject materialism
is the benchmark to show the achievement and success rate and the same is a
yardstick to quantify the status-co symbol in the society. Needless to say, our
urge to look for more is a free activity, which never satiates our hunger of
accumulation of materialistic comfort. Our life revolves on this principle.
Unless we are able to touch our aspirations to become famous, rich or achieve
excellence in our professional field, we are continuously following the said
activities. Till the time, our this thirst is quenched, we pursue relentlessly.
By doing this, what are we proving? Is
it a way of correct pattern of living?
The greed for more prompts us to work harder; smarter, better and force
us to follow creativity, but are we capable enough to call for a cease fire in
this almost like a devilish preponderant wish? Can we not say, “It is enough?
We have achieved substantially and let us contend with the same.”
Your
moral living leads to a path of spirituality. If the same living is completely
distorted with various unbridled things, it leads to a disparity and in the
passage of time; the same will be ingrained in your sub-conscious mind deeply. When
these seeds of hunger for various comforts arouse and ceaselessly allure you
and you are not able to pacify the same, you become flustered and you will be
out of control. Do you think that contentment is a mere idealism? It is a cultural learning one is able to
muster from his parents, superiors and religious gurus. You must have noticed
that some people are over ambitious and they would like to achieve everything.
Some others are docile, less ambitious and are ready to accept the life as it
comes. This depends on the neurological aspect, a vital factor, which is the
root-cause of all these ambitions, desires and passion. This neurological science sets the program of
the mind, which determines the quantum of gratification. Can we draw courage to
break the shackles of this gray matter, which makes us prone to lust for
materialistic comforts? Or, we will merely surrender and follow the situation. We
must follow the path of renunciation.
Like a computer’s operating system, a human brain can easily program the
inputs taking the same from the stored memories. The human brain is a very
powerful and is equipped with a frontal lobe that sits above the hypothalamus,
a small area confined near the pituitary gland. This area is a sensitive part
consisting of neurons causing us to exercise our free will to transcend the
barriers of inbuilt program. When you are able to rewrite this program or the
operating systems of the brain, you are activating your power of
discrimination. You are not showing any
iota of complacent. This power will energize you to unravel the operating program.
In this way, you overcome your weakness, wrongdoings, tenacity to attachment to
comforts and you get an insight into your lifestyle to know whether you live
with the correct lifestyle. This extra insight will increase your knowledge and
wisdom and your incremental intelligence will not only help you to reprogram
your brain’s operating system, but also make you to witness to the earlier program
that is unfolding.
When
you perceive something, you become perceiver. The subject and the object perceived
by you become self on it. The gravity of your wisdom lies in its ability to
eradicate this itself and analyze the same. The human brain is a master to
assess the part of the whole and the whole simultaneously. The brain is in a
position to find out the completeness of the whole because the completeness only
derives from the completeness. Happiness
and the contentment are the real words play a synergistic game between the
subject and the object. Bliss and joy are the fruitful bubbles emanating from
the streaming river of life and how you
consider the same, is a matter of your own sensual gratification. At the time of departure from this world’s
stage, there will be no subject and no object that can ever satiate any of your
wishes not fulfilled. All that remains
is your feeling of contentment and happiness of living. So, quantification is entirely your own state
of affairs, how you have programmed your mind.
