Many
people say, “We are busy in doing meditation.” It is a bit confusing
terminology. You can not do meditation;
you have to associate mentally with it in a greater sense, if you really
understand what really this art means?
It is not like other duties, which you can do at ease. You must focus,
concentrate, control your mind, think for the precious life God has blessed
you, remember Him and then sit in meditation to accrue its benefit. You have to
feel its power. Initially, your concentration will be zero, from that point;
you have to elevate to maximize the power of focus. If your body gives smell
because of profusely sweating or the costly nice white shirt which you are
wearing gets dusty, you can clean the same by using soap or cleaning detergents
and you will be happy. But have you thought any time when your mind gets dirty,
provoked, agitated or not calm, what you need to do to take a remedial action? Rather than cloth or body, mind is more important
and it needs cleaning regularly. In our daily chores and duties, we use slang
languages, quarrel with others and even with our beloved, insult our
colleagues, criticize our bosses, and argue with our parents and at times, shirking
away from our important responsibilities by simply doing procrastination and all
these activities evolve from the central force of mind power and so, it is
essential to purify mind regularly.
Mind
is purified by meditation. You have to meditate relaxing your body, distracting
from disturbances and sedate your mind and focus for the Almighty and his
blessings on you. God is guiding you to perform all regular duties, be it
social or professional. One must
remember that we are like His obedient shepherd, and are performing our duties
as per His wishes. The more you develop this thought process, the more you will
be bestowed upon with His blessings and your inclination to sit and zeal for
meditation will be increased. To accrue the real benefit out of meditation, you
have to put forward all your worries, tensions, pain, sufferings and hardship
to Him; He won’t hesitate to take the burden of the same on behalf of you and
show you the correct path. But you should not adapt the dilatory tactics. While
sitting in meditation, if you focus all your attention to various worldly and
mundane affairs, then you cannot obtain the power of meditation. You can play with others, yourself, but not
with God. He is evaluating your
activities round the clock. So, it is
essential to sit in meditation with a strong focus on God. People who prefer this technique of
meditation, mostly use the same as a path to get connected to the spiritual
realm. You cannot expect the immediate result. It is not a magic. This benefit
from meditation is a painstaking process, which starts from the purity of the
mind, constructive thoughts, humility, politeness and respect for all people,
whom you come in contact. When you will be able to increase these quantitative
attributes, you will automatically find that you are concentrating more on
meditation without much hindrance. Mind is a central piece of happiness. Without mind’s help, even the loveable
objects will look bitter to us; it won’t give any pleasure. When we hunch to obtain an object of an
external world, mind will be restless unless we receive the same. When we take the possession of the same, our
mind becomes quiet unless a new sense of desire evolves. The religious findings state that the reason behind
all our unhappiness is because of our greed and satiate the fundamental desires
of our mind and body. Our core strength
depends on our self motivating and to control our desires. But most of the time, we are not able to do
so; otherwise, we would have been happy all the time. Our mind is not always pure;
when psychologically, it is disturbed, you are physiologically not motivated to
engage in constructive thinking.
In
this stage of mind, if you think to meditate, you cannot concentrate because
you are not feeling peace. You are always at a loggerhead at least mentally. Since our mind is always seeking something,
judging others and criticizing others, we are not left with harmony and peace. We
feel perfectly quiet when we sleep. In
sleep mode, we are more than blissful. The reason is, in sleep, we are not
disturbed. We don’t find any influence
and there is no interference. That is why;
we get so much interested in sleep. However, we cannot cling to this sleep mode
always because our sense of performing our duties will not allow to think in
that way. We will be forced to wake up to our responsibilities to carry out
work and discharge various duties. We will face turmoil in this type of
situation, but meditation will help us to soothe our mind. You must sit in a
quiet place to avoid any disturbance, then close your eyes and thinking of God and
then you carry on with meditation. The
main purpose of meditation is to reduce the anxieties and stress to calm your
mind. When you first sit in meditation,
you will be forced to think of your office work, your favorite sports, your
beloved and many other distracting thoughts and the same will jeopardize your
movement. You cannot avoid it. Let them come; you should not bother. After
practicing meditation regularly, you will find all these thoughts disappeared
and you will be able to focus very consciously only on one thought, which is
related to the spiritual feeling. Then the quality of your meditation will also
be improved. The practice of asana and
pranayama will help you in meditation.
Once your body gets relaxed by Yogasana and the flow of Prana is being
transmitted to you through pranayama, you will feel at ease to sit in
meditation and practice the same for a long time even for hours.
The
ultimate purpose of meditation is to know our inner self and get always
blissful. Once you are a veteran in the
practice of meditation, your sedate and controlled mind will make you realize
its magnetizing power for your connecting to the upper realm of life.
