The Philosophy of Hinduism

The origin of religion is found in Latin word, which denotes religion.  Religion is a set of beliefs about God, the universe, purpose, life, death, morality, etc. and that is usually centered on the worship of something or the adoration of a figure and / or creed.  In other words, religion binds together, keeps together and punching the mind constantly not to hurt others by words, actions, deeds and behavior. Every religion gives the message of love and brotherhood.

But today, under the auspicious word of religion, people carry out all sorts of miscreants.  Instead of maintaining the sanctity of the religion, they destroy the spiritual value and “ism” of any religion.  Whether it is Hinduism, Buddhism or Christianity, each religion develops a novel and exclusive devotional practices and by embracing the same, the people become sacred, religious and spiritual minded.  When the religion is not followed strictly to the code of conduct and various stipulations laid down in the respective Holy Scriptures, they are not blessed with the God’s blessings. Their negligence and less devotion make them feel very gloomy in their lives.

All the religions start with a believable faith that there exists a supernatural power, which shows light and the right direction to lead a moral, religious and happy life.  The other features of the religions are that they have a specific sacred scripture, namely the Bible, Quran and Torah.

The religion of Hindus is not confined to any one doctrine, book, creed or scripture. There are varieties and it all depends on the devotees which one to follow for their religious purposes.  The authorities of the Vedas are also underplayed by many other religious books in Hinduism.  No one can say that my practice of religious doctrine is the best.  You may be a vegetarian, may be a non-vegetarian or even you resort to consuming all types of foods which create a pungent sensation in your body and mind, but you can be a Hindu.   You may follow the principle of worshiping God or any other religious creed once in a day, in a month and even annually. Further, you may be a totally atheist.  There is no fixed formula to follow the religious practices.  Many people keep fast on a certain day to celebrate the particular occasion of a birthday of a particular God or Goddess irrespective of whether he is a Hindu or not.  You may not keep a fast at all and still be a Hindu. Most of us believe in our God and Goddess and  some even do not believe, but that does not mean that we are not Hindus.

We all pray to God to fulfill our various desires.  God has given us adequate energy to carry out all our endeavors to the best of our capabilities and efforts.  To perform and accomplish a religious practice, making God as central position should not be construed as only Hinduism.  If you can remove your attitude, you can eliminate the fundamental blockade attached to any religion. Unless you are detached from all these attitudinal problems of overseeing that one religion is better than other, you cannot have sympathetic notion for another religion.  To become religious, you should not bother what religion you are following.

You may follow Hinduism and any other “ism”.  But once you develop a common thought and reverence for all religions, you will find the philosophy of Hinduism is God centric.  Though you are taught to follow the various sacred style of life, eating healthy foods, doing meditation regularly, keeping your health in excellent condition, but Hinduism always propagates the commonality in all their religious fervor.  This philosophy also teaches brotherhood, keeping ample relationship with each other, not to indulge in cruelty and barbaric postures, but under the name of religion, people carry out such activities.  In this way, we only condemn the very basic creed of the religion, otherwise like any religion, the philosophy of Hinduism is to be good, do good and think good for others.  All the beautiful things and deeds start from the heart and all bad and evil things start from the mind. So, never let the mind rule your heart.  Let the heart rule your life which will help maintain the philosophy of Hinduism.

Modi's zest for good governance

Once again, Modi has shown his gusto that he means results in the political state of affairs and the ultimate outcome must be positive. In his recent reshuffle of his ministers, indirectly he has conveyed the signal that either you perform or perish. On the 9th instant, Modi has expanded his ministry by inducting 21 new  ministers and three others as minister of states with independent charges. From these changes, it is evident that he is keen to induct his own men and then groom them with his thoughtful ventures to steer past the downturn of the country’s economical situation. In the past little less than six months, he has taken some crucial decisions and give the skeleton of India’s dishevel condition of governance a encouraging and right direction and to follow the correct path of ruling a country. Needless to say, the thumping victory with an absolute majority in the last parliament election has made him not to face any obstruction whatsoever in bringing these changes in the ministerial portfolios. In fact, his firm and confident demeanor and attitudinal posture has stooped even his own party to put any resistance to effect this alteration of various portfolios.

After the jubilation of victories in the state elections, both in Maharashtra and Haryana recently, he is exuding a more toughness for which he is well known. In all realities the Prime Minister of a country must hear, listen, speak, but when it comes to taking a decision, he has to be ruthless for the purpose of a noble cause. Modi is performing and carrying out the same thing.

The two major portfolios, namely the railway and the health have been divested from the present incumbents, which in earlier government  was not possible at all because of the steep resistance, both from the outside and inside. In fact, our country was not that tuned to see these types of bold decisions in the past ten years. By downgrading Gowda from the railway ministry, he has given the signal to

all his other ministers that good governance means you should not  only be amicable and lovable, but you must possess the guts and courage to get your decisions Implemented through the tough minded and sometimes obstinate bureaucrats. He was failing in his this mission and lost the vital ministry. The same is the case with Harsh Vardhan. The otherwise very upright and honest person as he is, has stepped on toes with his anti-tobacco campaign. Though he has been allocated an important portfolio, like science & technology, he has been identified as a reserve for the chief ministership of Delhi, if party wins the election going to be held shortly. By bringing people like Suresh Prabhu, Manohar Parrikar and Jagat Nanda, he has not only brought his own confidants, but ensure they possess  a clean image, loyalty, technocratic credentials, energy and vigor to work relentlessly and more importantly has a maturity to connect with the masses. One of the reasons of inducting Babul Supriyo is because of his ability to connect with the people through his singing.

Only one change, is a bit surprising to juxtapose the portfolio of already overloaded Jetley with information and broadcasting. Since, he is mostly occupied with the ministry of finance, which is the nerve center of a country’s growth; he is relieved from the responsibility of the defence portfolio. Perhaps, Modi wants to strengthen this ministry of I &B by bringing him. The corridor buzzing is that Modi is not so happy the way black money retrieval campaign has been handled through the different channels of media. The argument on which Jetley has been divested and then given an additional portfolio of this important ministry does not fully justify. As per me, he could have been allocated this to a seniormost MP in

Rajasthan  like Dushyant Singh, the son of veteran leader of the BJP, Jaswant Singh.

It is true that BJP is not having so many talented MPs from the inner circle and so Modi has to depend to induct outsiders for qualitative output of good governance, but he cannot induct outsiders and then make them elected in the Rajya Sabha at this stage. That is the reason, he  has to compromise and  strengthen the I &B ministry with Jetley only.

Modi is determined to enlarge his party’s base to kill the opponents with his decisive forces and  also considering the ensuing elections in various states, namely Bihar, West Bengal, UP and Punjab within another three years. With this political scenario in his mind, he has given a berth as number of  ministers to various MPs of the states like UP, Bihar. In this process, he ignores the demand of other states.

One thing is very distinct that Modi is fundamentally clear that he will be monitoring the performance of all his ministers periodically and any lapse will not be tolerated by him and that is his final dictum on last Sunday’s oath ceremony of the new group of  ministers.  By bringing these changes and showing his tough posture to focus and concentrate only on results, he is able to exert his able leadership as a prime minister to provide a culture of good governance, which was not there in the past ten years.

Achievement of plus 100 days of Modi and his government

Since, inception of his Prime Ministership in the 100 days above, Modi has taken various decisions to steer past the growth of the country. The tangible results may not be that evident on immediate basis, but  I am very optimistic that sooner or later, we all accrue the benefits of these decisions.

Let us  recapitulate the decisions taken by his government under his stewardship.

1.       He has formed a panel to identify the  black money of 50000 crores, which has been stashed in tax haven  countries. This effort of radical nature will help the government to bring back the money in the system to augment the development process.

2.       

 The various panels of the previous government, namely a group of ministers and empowered group of ministers have been scrapped and getting replaced by a one decision making center for the purpose of good governance and  monitor the progress speedily.

3.       

The planning commission, which was hitherto existed for  50 years is abolished and a body of think-tank is constituted for effective management.

4.     

  The appointments  related to the higher judiciary system are to be done now on wards by a commission comprising the prime minister and the chief justice of India.

5.    

   His government has issued a dictum to reform the juvenile justice act. They have proposed in line with the recommendations of the juvenile justice board, whether to try the heinous crimes performed by the juvenile above 16 years in a regular court or not.

6.      

The very ambitious  financial scheme of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana has created a massive response in the proletariat. No sooner the scheme was launched, the bank account of 15 million  people with  an  one lakh insurance coverage each was opened on the very first day. The target of this scheme is to cover 75 million account holders.

7.       Modi has taken  personal initiative to augment the relationship with the neighboring countries, namely Nepal, Bhutan, China and Japan. By doing this activity, he has shown them that India is sincerely interested to make cordiality with the neighbors.

8.       By  establishing the national food  grid, which is a decision of  radical change to curtail the shortages and wast ages of the  fruits and vegetables and by carrying these commodities from the surplus zone to the deficient areas, the government will be definitely able to reduce the inflationary trend in prices.

9.       His government has sent a stern message to Pakistan by cancelling the secretary level  talks, which was scheduled to be held on last 25^th August. In this way, India has made them understand that Pakistan has to stop the cross border terrorism and atrocities thereupon.

They are also informed to obtain prior approval from PMO for any expenditure crossing the limit of one lakh.

In  a nutshell, all these decisions, which are taken by Modi are excellent and  in these 100 days and above, he has also exerted enough influences on his ministers  either to perform or perish. In his dictionary, no one will be allowed to put a spoke to  anything and everything, which as per him  will benefit the common people of India.

The mind is a devil boy

Whenever something happens to you, say you accomplish a feat or you are putting your all out efforts  to transcend some barriers, you immediately conclude that it has happened based on your hard work or circumstances.  It is not true.  It has happened because your mind has prompted you to think and accordingly  the action has been performed by you.

All the results of your life's deeds are based on this thinking power.  You have the ability to change this thinking power.  As you begin changing your mind, you begin changing your life.  It has been seen that people form their habits in their formative ages within six years of their lives. The formative influences, which have been developed in your initial stage of life, make you the person you are right now.  Today, whatever the person you are, that is because the way you do and the way you think.

The research at Stanford University concluded that the average person uses only 2% of his / her mental abilities based on studies of the neocortex, which is nothing but the “thinking brain” of the human being.  It is obvious that some people are born with some extraordinary abilities and they perform excellent in those gifted abilities.  Most of us have some talents and abilities which are more or less average.  The famous men and women, who are in the category of celebrities, achieve success by developing their natural talents and abilities to a very high degree in some special areas of their interest.  Your potentiality is inherent in yourself and that is to be identified and developed for your success.

By a simple equation, I establish this fact.  The equation is……

(IQ + AQ) x QA = ILP

IQ  -  Inborn Quality. These are your natural tendencies or temperament and your general mental ability.

AQ – Acquired Quality – These are the knowledge, skill, talent, experience and ability which you may gain or develop as you grow and mature.

QA – Quality of Attitude – This is a kind of mental energy that you bring to bear on your combination of Inborn Quality and Acquired Quality.

ILP – Individual Level of Performance

Inborn Quality IQ + Acquired Quality AQ x Quality of Attitude and it denotes to your Individual Level of Performance.

Your Inborn Quality, which are the inner aspect of your personality are largely fixed at birth.  They are mostly genetic.  You cannot do much to change the same. 

Your Acquired Quality can be changed through your education and experience.  These are the areas of your potential and mastery.

As Epictetus wrote, “Circumstances do not make the man; they merely reveal him to himself.”  Where from this attitude comes?  What causes one person to be positive and another to be negative?  Your attitude is completely dependent on your expectations.   Most of the people’s expectations are powerful.  They exert an immense influence on their personality.

If you expect a good thing to happen, you shall have to be positive and optimistic in your approach to people and situations.   As per the laws of belief, if you possess a satisfactory view of this world, if you believe that this world is a good place and that all the persons of this world, including you are good, then you will always expect the best from yourself, from others and from the situation you face. Your positive expectations will be expressed in a positive mental attitude.  You will get back what you give out.

Love is the secret key of life

The existence of this world is invariably because of love. Despite many hassles, and horrendous activities, which include third degree crime, self centered behaviors of human beings and complexities of life, love bind us. Without this trait, which is treated to be the most acknowledged attribute of human kind, the existence of the world becomes a big question mark. Because of this eternal and unparalleled quality, we recognize each other, think of other’s welfare and become depressed when others are in distress. This is compensated by our love for the root of the tree. Then only the branches, its leaves, foliage will feel our love. Love is such a thing that allows us to connect to our soul, prompt us to connect our soul with other’s soul and in this way, it allows the human being to open the door of God. What is this love? It is a pure and simple emotional bonding of one person with another without exchange of anything except true and pure love. So, love must be unconditional. If you show love to someone and expect something, it is not the true love. When love becomes one with everything with humanity and divine perception then that is real love. Love embraces everyone with oneness. We must be very careful about the reality of love. If the feeling of love enters into our mind, first of all, we have to recognize whether it is a pure or divine love. If we give something to somebody and in turn we expect reciprocating behavior from him, then the same is human love because the mind is conditioned with expectation. The more you expect in love, the more you will be deluded from the divine love. In human love, there is a concept of giving and getting and it does not last long. If we do something unconditionally, then it is divine love. In divine love, we don’t have that expectation to get something in return. If it comes, it is well and good, otherwise the person who is showing love, he is not obliged to receive anything.



Divine love is like the Sun. As the sun does not hear anybody’s command how much light is to be given to whom, in the same way, divine love is not confined with any barriers. It does not have any definition. It is limitless. If you close the doors and windows of your house, sunlight may not enter your house and then what can sun do? If you understand the fundamental theory of divine love, you will see everything and recognize the same as human love. Divine love encourages us to understand own self and it also illumines us and through this illumination, we get the enjoyment in our lives. In divine love, there is no possession; there is only a feeling of oneness. In divine love, nothing is discriminated. Oneness is able to enter into an animal, flower, tree, building or even a statue. When we show divine love for someone, there is automatically oneness arising without any question mark. This divine love prompts us to think that we are bigger than the biggest. It also tells us that our life is definitely more important than we imagine.

If you want to follow the path of spirituality, you have to rely upon divine love. Been in the family, you have to discharge your family activities, take care of your responsibilities and with this; you cannot ignore the principle of human love. This fundamental right of yours cannot be overlooked, but at the same time, you have to bring the purity of divine love in your life in order to allay all kinds of deeply rooted evil things of our society like hatred, jealousy, selfishness and many more. People, who want to follow the religious path and to feel God as their own, the only one answer for them to embrace upon divine love In this state of affairs, peoples’ character gets enlightened, their pattern of thinking gets more positive oriented, and they give less weight age on self and show concern for other’s benevolence. This divine love is the easiest path to grow. This love is most convincing and most effective. Who says the concept of divine love is a tough thing? You have only to surrender all your karmas to God.



The more you are believer of divine love, the more you will be able to fulfill your inner pilot. Divine life is not at all very hard to achieve. It is easily an achievable goal. You have just to recognize the secret of secrets. That secret must be in a position to grow in divine love, where the lover and the beloved become one in true sense. The Creator and creation converge in oneness and the finite and the infinite become consciously one. We can very well hear the soul searching and soul stirring flute of immorality in this earth. We do not have to go anywhere, whether heaven or any other realm of consciousness. Here in this earth, we can hear the message of liberation, enlightenment, spiritual intellectuality and divine fulfillment, if we love for the sake of the purity of love. It gets strengthened further, if the love is for the sake of God.

Modi's attempt to woo Fiji and its leaders

Modi’s impending visit to the country of Kangaroo is definitely a news of attraction after his very successful and eventful visit in USA. The Indian populace in Australia, by and large, is not  so persuasive on the authoritative power in the government therein; still Modi’s speech at G-20 summit will definitely push the things of Indian sovereignty little more. He may not receive a rousing welcome as he had received in USA, nevertheless the whole world, particularly G-20 nations will be very attentive to hear him. On the way back, he will stop by in Fiji to do hobnobbing with the leaders of the ruling party of Fiji. Modi, like the Chinese President XI-Jinping is acknowledging the growing importance of this Pacific island nation and he knows that if he encourages the development of this nation, some reciprocating fruition is possible for India also. The Fiji’s leaders are playing host to XI-Jinping who also decides to stop over in Fiji after the G-20 summit in Australia,is over. It is not that clear  whether Modi will meet the Chinese President in Fiji or not, but both India and China are on the same wave length. Recently, US has lifted the sanctions on Fiji and the commonwealth is now readmitting their elections held in last September. The lift of sanction and commonwealth’s acceptance has rekindled the world’s interest for this nation.  To afresh, Fiji’s Frank Bainimarama and his party won the September  elections, polling and garnering a 60% of the votes.  

Traditionally, Fiji has always evoked interest for Indians with respect to tourism because of their scenic beauties and picturesque places. This interest is continuously getting increased.Further, due to the large number of Indo-Fijians who were the very powerful ethnic community there before many were forced to emigrate. India showed its interest to tie-up with this island way back in the year 1879. Many Indian laborers were taken in this country to work in the augmentation of sugar plantations. A larger number of Indian population is used today also for various manual works. This island is pervaded with the trade activities of Indian business community and the twentieth century saw an upsurge in this activity.

From the government of India’s side, the last visit of any Prime Minister was of Indira Gandhi. But from their side, on a number of occasions, many leaders, including Mr. Bainimarama visited to establish and strengthen the cordiality of the relationship of these two countries.

In the past few years, China has increased their involvement enormously in this country for business and economic development. China has announced a record investment of over US 2 billions through different ventures overpowering the dominance of Australia with this country in this Pacific region.

Modi rightly understands the gravity of the situation and has taken all his perseverance to increase the tie-up both economically and financially with this small island. Hats off to Modi and his acumen because in his place, if there is any other Prime Minister, he would have not taken any trouble to visit Fiji enrouting India.
