When your mind is not able to identify any
objects with respect to its intrinsic
value or is unable to recognize the same, you can understand that your thoughts
are not clear at that particular moment.
You are not in a position to take any decisive role. Thoughts only provoke actions through your
mind. In some other situation, your mind
become sedate taking no action, but that does not mean that you are not an intelligent person.
Particularly, this stage happens when
you sit in meditation and your mind is no-mind. You are not bothered about your
surroundings. You may not be able to achieve this stage easily, but when you
practice the meditation continuously, you may reach no-mind state. For many
people, mind will always dance through allurement of provocative thoughts to
hug various objects and will be very greedy to get those things. These types of thoughts are known as polluted
thoughts. To get rid of these
provocations, you have to take the route of meditation, which only calm your mind,
and your mind will not be crowded with negativities. If you can stop these
negative thoughts at least eighty percent of the time, which make you run
behind non-realities, the condition of your mind will be termed as nearly perfect maintaining a harmonious life.
We have a tenacity to ponder on the events of the
past on which you have no control except to learn from your mistakes or on the
happenings, which are going to take place in the future and there also, you
have no control. These thoughts of the past when drag your mind, you don’t
achieve any tangible results. On the
contrary, these thoughts lead you in an utter confusion and you become gloomy,
despondent and restless. Of course, some
of the best thoughts of the past may
make you happy, but the same is ephemeral. Instead of getting bogged down with
the thoughts of the past, you lose the fragrance of the precious moment of the
present.
Further, we waste precious time on futuristic
thoughts, most of which have no relevance to the present moment. Based on these thoughts, we spread the wings
of our mind in the fantasies and we love to stay in the imaginary world. In this way, we face the possibilities of
losses in every aspect of life. Had we not come under the influence of
futuristic thoughts of good things to happen and instead accept the present moment;
we could be able lead a more meaningful living. These two past and the future
always make us to walk in a dark forest and not getting any exit from the present constraints and
opportunities. Mostly, the past is made
up of dead sequences. If you like to
retrieve those sequences, you allow yourself to be like dead.
We do this when engage ourselves in unproductive work and wasteful energies. Pondering on these issues would only fetch
regrets. The more you indulge in these
activities, the more you become unsuccessful in life. When you engage yourself with the negative thinking
of the sordidness of the past, you will be wandering without any ambition. This
will also provoke you to think for
fancied future unnecessarily and failure to achieve the same will lead you to
frustration, unnerving hopes and endless unrealistic expectations.
Our mind is sometimes in no-mind zone, even without
the influence of meditation. We should not consider that phase is not rattled with the desire of
materialistic comforts of objects. The mind, when it is not preoccupied with
the worldly affairs and daily rituals which exist right in front of us can
chose its own course of action to drag either in the past and the future
thoughts. These thoughts may give you a
soothing feeling and you would like to dip into the same, ignoring the precious
moment of the present. This soothing
feeling may be enjoyable for the time being, but definitely it will bring
unpleasant hopelessness in the immediate future. Knowing this well, we still plunge into these
thought patterns. To overcome this state of mind, you have to sit in meditation
to have the clarity on your thoughts and
control your mind. Because of this, the
great sages advise to live always in moment to moment. They also suggest to engage mind to live in
the present. As per them, we must
completely reject the past. We should also renounce the future. This state of
mind is known as no-mind. The content of the present moment after being detached from all relationships
with the past and the future is the absolute fullness of divinity. It is not
that you cannot reach this stage. If you
continue to practice the above techniques, you can do so. You can experience the sacredness of the
present when you live in the present moment. To live in the present, forgetting
the past and the future is almost like obtaining Moksha. This is another way of getting yourself
involved in meditation. You have to seek
this stage as early as possible in your life.
No one can provide you or train you to achieve this stage. Each person
is to try hard to reach there by his own efforts, dedication, determination and
perseverance. If you think that someone
will help you, the same will be a fallacy. Your guru or your friend or your teacher can
guide you, but living in the present without bothering about the past and the
future is wholly your responsibility.
How you do; you have to decide.
But it is sure that one must live
in the present moment for living a meaningful life.
