The whole world is aware about China’s latent desire to be a superpower and dethrone America from their monarchy. The present political scenario of India due to the absolute majority of Modi’s party BJP makes China bit puzzled and they are continually making a rat-tat to the ajar door of their selfish desire only to increase business trade with India, barring an amicable political solution. Had the political situation not so conducive in India, they would have not shown their inclination so spontaneously. China is very much aware that Modi is in the positive frame of mind to take India as one of the prominent global hubs sooner and he won’t succumb to any political or social pressure; be it inward or outward. Though Modi believes in conformity, consensus and accepting the political and economical assertions, he will not hesitate for a moment to initiate a stern action against China, if they do not keep their promises, particularly in the political front. Being a Denizen of Gujarat almost for the past three decades and as an avid follower of Modi’s all policies and ideologies, I asseverate to my said prophecy.
Pakistan is a rogue, but China is like a snake though they are symbolized as a dragon. Even you show solidarity of friendship, increase the business growth and make all amenities to establish more frequent people to people contact, they will not be interested to settle the very sensitive political issues, namely cross border infiltration and invading the Indian ocean. Like the adage, even you feed a snake regularly with milk and banana; there is no guarantee that it won’t bite you. In a similar way, you may extend all your cooperation to China, but whether they will settle the long pending issues related to politics, it is beyond anybody’s guess.
In the last week’s visit, the Chinese President was very vehement in all his praise for Modi, which was followed by the reciprocation of the same, quiet dinner, deep in conversation with both the leaders to augment the business ties, while strolling together along the Sabarmati riverfront in Ahmadabad. Further, both have lavishly praised each other countries with all sugar coated adjectives, the fragrance of the same are still blowing in the air of the two countries. On one hand, the political environment is agog with these activities, but on the other end, China is planning to curb India’s dominance in the Indian Ocean. Perhaps, through the allurement of billion dollar aid and constructing many industrial parks and cities, they want to establish a masked friendship with India, but definitely, China as a country is not so trustworthy.
When their President was visiting India, there was an authoritative dominance of China in South China and East China seas and it was noticed by all.
The transportation of oil through the tankers which route through the sea pertains to China for 80 percent and 60% for Japan and 65% for India respectively.
A slowdown in the traffic of tankers – whether from diplomatic standoff, war, and disharmony in political confabulation or piracy could cripple those countries involved therein?
All these years, China is very eager to build ports, enhance the facilities and water management so as to forge their relationship with coastal nations. In this process, they want to establish a link from Myanmar to Pakistan and want to be a very dominant player in the Indian Ocean alongside India and USA.
The President of China has already initiated a maritime Silk Road arrangement to link China to Europe by sea. If it happens then they will be definitely able to position themselves more permanently in the Indian Ocean.
It is evident that before visiting India, the Chinese President air dashed other Indian Ocean nations namely Maldives and Sri Lanka. Maldives, one of the tourist spots of the world is under the influence of Beijing to increase their economic growth through the sea route. Sri Lanka has also been favored by China to support them to construct a colossal port in Hambantota. Extending the cooperation, China wants to dominate the coastal nations, though they decline their desire of this political resurgence of the whole world.
The way the President XI Jinping is showing his astute and shrewd tactical movement to strengthen the economic development in India, but continue to carry on the provocative works on the borders and also on the sea, Modi has to closely watch China’s activities and friendship.
On the home front, the opposition, including left parties is silently watching China’s activities to extend business cooperation and Modi’s strategical move to augment the same. Despite XI Jinping’s clever deployment of various political moves to become a superpower in the world, he is misconstruing Modi’s affability and perhaps he will be beaten by his beloved partner’s equally clever hobnobbing.
